Prof. Banibrata Mukhopadhyay is working as a faculty member in the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore (one of the highest ranked Institutes in India which is more than 100 years old) since 2006, currently as an Associate Professor. Prior to that he was in the Harvard University as a Postdoctoral Fellow in its Theoretical Astrophysics Group. He did his Ph.D. from S. N. Bose National Centre for Basic Sciences, Kolkata, India.
Mukhopadhyay has a variety of research interest including physics of compact objects, astrophysical fluids, nuclear astrophysics, field theory in curved spacetime and related cosmology. He has published more than 100 papers and graduated 5 Ph.D. students so far (and many more are graduating right now).
