Phase Space Structure in the Era of Galactoseismology

Gaia first discovered the snail shell structure in the Z-Vz phase space of stars in the Milky Way disk, suggesting that the disk was perturbed and dynamically young. This represents the beginning of a new promising research field, i.e., ‘Galactoseismology’, where we can study the Galactic structure formation and evolution history using the phase space signals. In this talk, I will first introduce the physical background of the phase space snail shell. Then I will describe our recent works related to such phenomenon: 1) we found that the phase snail can only be seen in dynamically colder orbits; 2) the phase snail is more prominent when the stars are grouped into different guiding radius; 3) the vertical potential profiles could be constructed based on the phase snail.
