Kinematic misaligned galaxies in MaNGA

Abstract:

This talk primarily focus on introducing the kinematically misaligned galaxies in MaNGA survey, including (1) gas-star misalignments; (2) galaxies with two counter-rotating stellar disks; (3) galaxies with two misaligned gas disks. Through studying the properties of these three types of galaxies, we discuss their formation scenarios and the influence of external processes on the evolution of galaxies

Biography: 
Prof. Yanmei Chen (陈燕梅) received her PhD degree from the institute of high energy physics, CAS, in 2009. Then Yanmei moved to MPA, Garching and University of Wisconsin Madison for Post-Doc researches. She joined Nanjing University in 2012 as a faculty and received the National Science Fund for Excellent Young Scholars in 2019. Yanmei is mainly engaged in her research of active galactic nucleus (AGN) and galaxy evolution, topics involve gas accretion into galaxies, star formation and AGN activity, as well as their feedback effect.
