The China-US Universities Astronomy Collaboration Summit, with the theme “Our Universe, a World without Boundaries”, will be held in Beijing on June 7, 2016, co-organized by the Chinese Scholarship Council, Peking University, University of California, Santa Barbara and University of California, Santa Cruz.This Summit is one of the series of educational exchange activities of the Seventh Conference of China-US High-Level Consultation on the People-to-People Exchange (CPE), which will be attended by Chinese Vice Premier Liu Yandong and US Secretary of State John Kerry on June 7, 2016. Invitations will be extended to top universities in China and the leading universities in the US with world-class astronomy programs. We believe we will have very strong delegations of university leaders from both the US and China.During the Summit, a new astronomy collaboration program MoU between China and US will be signed. The collaboration program is designed to promote research exchanges in astronomy between Chinese and US universities. The collaboration program at full strength will involve the exchange of literally dozens of astronomers from undergraduate to senior levels.The Summit will include the exchange of ideas and discussion on collaborations between China and the US universities, the collaborations between universities and national institutes/publics, as well as astronomy collaborations in the context of the Thirty-Meter Telescope. The Summit also provides a unique forum for all the senior leaders of the participating universities, as well as officials from the China Scholarship Council, Chinese Ministry of Education, and the Chinese Academy of Sciences to meet one another and become acquainted. We believe that this is an excellent opportunity for further dialogue between university professors/presidents from both countries.
