Kohei Inayoshi awarded the "The Young Scientists’ Award” from MEXT of Japan

Prof. Kohei Inayoshi at Kavli Institute for Astronomy and Astrophysics (KIAA) at Peking University was awarded the "The Young Scientists’ Award” from the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) of Japan, a prestigious honor that recognizes and encourages exceptional young researchers in the fields of science and technology. This annual award highlights  innovative contributions and achievements from young researchers, aiming to foster future advancements in these areas and supporting the next generation of scientific leaders.

Prof. Kohei Inayoshi's research centers on the formation of supermassive black holes in the early epoch of the universe and their cosmic coevolution with host galaxies. He has developed a comprehensive framework for massive black hole formation and investigated mechanisms enabling their rapid growth in protogalaxies. Through international collaborations and active involvement in observational programs with the James Webb Space Telescope, he bridges theoretical studies and observations of the early universe. His work will shed light on the unresolved coevolutionary processes between black holes and galaxies at cosmic dawn.

Prof. Inayoshi is an associate professor at KIAA. Before joining KIAA in 2018 fall, he spent 4 years at Columbia University in US as a Junior Simons Fellow, and he received his Ph.D. in physics from Kyoto University, Japan, in 2014.
