PKU awarded six incoming astronomy postdocs as Boya Postdoctoral Fellows, from a competitive pool of over 50 candidates. Five of the postdocs, Suyeon Son, Anindya Saha, Logan Fries, Kan Chen, and Dan Qiu, are affiliated with Kavli Institute for Astronomy and Astrophysics, while one, Zhao Li, is affiliated with the Department of Astronomy (DoA) within the School of Physics. PKU astronomy will soon support 35 postdocs at KIAA and DoA, one of the largest astronomy postdoc programs in the world.
"We appreciate the financial and logistical support from PKU for our postdoctoral program from the Boya program and other programs," said Luis Ho, Director of KIAA. "This funding helps us to achieve our science goals and supports the development of talented young researchers."

These six postdocs received PhDs from five countries: South Korea, USA, UK, India, and China, reflecting the international environment of KIAA. Their interests include supermassive black holes, star formation, planet formation, stellar astrophysics, and gravitational extremes, consistent with the breadth of topics studied by PKU astronomers. The five postdocs from KIAA were previously awarded KIAA Fellowships, supported in part by the Kavli Foundation.
The administration of KIAA helped the applicants to organize their applications. "While the applicants won these awards because of their strong applications, the organization and support from our staff was critical, especially for international applicants." said Gregory Herczeg, Associate Director for Science at KIAA. "Without the great effort from the staff, we would not be able to attract and support such strong postdocs."
