KIAA postdoc Yu Qiu won a PKU Outstanding Postdoc Award, one of 26 granted across PKU, while incoming postdoc Lin Wang won the PKU Boya Fellowship. These prestigious awards are granted to PKU postdoctoral scholars whose research has important scientific significance and academic values or has outstanding economic or social benefits.
Dr. Yu Qiu
Dr. Yu Qiu is currently a KIAA Fellow. He received his Ph.D. from the Georgia Institute of Technology in 2019. His research focuses on using radiation-hydrodynamical modeling of active galactic nuclei (AGN) feedback to understand the interaction between supermassive black holes (SMBHs) and the environment in which they reside. In the past two years at KIAA, Yu has published three first-author papers, co-advised one student paper, organized two international forums for KIAA and the Kavli Foundation, and given 13 seminar/conference talks and poster presentations at domestic and international institutes/conferences.
Lin Wang
Lin Wang is an incoming Boya Fellow working with Kejia Lee. She will join KIAA after completing her Ph.D. in the National Astronomical Observatories, Chinese Academy of Sciences, expected in June 2022. Her research focuses on pulsar searches, pulsar timing, and the effects of globular cluster dynamics on pulsars. During her PhD, Lin discovered two globular cluster pulsars using FAST. She also spent three years in the UK working on pulsars in globular clusters with the Large European Array for Pulsars (LEAP), including the development of a beaming forming pipeline to search for pulsars.
