In order to express our gratitude to Dr. Shu Qi’s strong support to PKU astronomy, KIAA decided to rename the newly renovated first meeting room as the Shu Qi Meeting Room. On September 11th, Dr. Shu Qi (CEO of Locoo International LTD., PhD of PKU astronomy in 2021) was invited by KIAA to attend the “Shu Qi Meeting Room dedication ceremony”. In April of this year, Dr. Shu Qi made a large donation to support fundamental scientific research at Peking University, including to the 6-8m Expendable Aperture Segmented Telescope (EAST) project.
Chair of the Department of Astronomy, Prof. Xuebing Wu hosted the ceremony and remarked on the auspicious beginning of EAST project. He encouraged students to learn from Dr. Shu Qi and to maintain a strong connection with Peking University even after graduation. The founding Chair of the Department of Astronomy, CAS Academician Jiansheng Chen and Dr. Shu Qi jointly unveiled the plaque for the Shu Qi Meeting Room. Faculty members and students joined the ceremony.
