KIAA-PKU Hosts the “2024 KIAA Postdoc Forum”

The KIAA Postdoc Forum was held from November 25th-27th at the Kavli Institute for Astronomy and Astrophysics (KIAA) at Peking University. The forum was organized by postdoctoral researchers from KIAA in collaboration with a scientific organization committee consisting of postdoctoral researchers from Peking University, Tsinghua University, SUSTech, the National Astronomical Observatory of China, the Purple Mountain Observatory, Xiamen University, and Sun Yat-Sen University.  The Forum brought together more than 40 postdoctoral researchers from different institutions in China, providing them with the opportunity to present their work and engage in discussions and plan future collaboration.

After the formal opening on Monday morning the talks at the Forum covered topics from a broad range of research fields in astronomy and physics, including gravity and cosmology, high-energy and particle astrophysics, galaxy formation and evolution, and stars. In addition, small coffee breaks with poster discussions, joint lunches and a conference dinner offered the participants the opportunity to continue their discussion in a more informal setting.

In addition, two invited talks by Paulo Montero Camacho and Alejandro Torres Orjuela gave the participants an overview on parameter fitting in cosmology and the developing field of detecting gravitational waves using atom interferometry. Prof. Fangzhou Jiang, a recently appointed assistant professor at the KIAA, shared his experience on research and finding a faculty position with the attendees.
