Yonghwi Kim
KIAA Fellow
Room:

Research interests:
Galaxy formation and evolution, Gas Dynamics in Disk Galaxies and Galaxy Clusters, Instability Processes of Spiral Shocks, Hydrodynamic and Magnetohydrodynamic Simulations
Research Highlights:
My research centers on the area of theoretical and computational astrophysics to study the dynamics of the
interstellar medium, star formation, structure and evolution of disk galaxies. Main research topics on which
I work include (a) instability processes at spiral shocks, (b) hydrodynamic and magnetohydrodynamic processes
that can lead to transport angular momentum in disk galaxies, and (c) formation of giant molecular cloud and
global star formation in disk galaxies. I am also interested in cosmological N-body simulations involving the
numerical method for gas/fluid dynamics.
