KIAA partners with Universidad Diego Portales (UDP), Chile on research in X-rays from Active Galactic Nuclei and on protoplanetary disks, in a bilateral relationship governed by a Memorandum of Understanding. Prof. Claudio Ricci of UDP as a joint appointment at KIAA, spending time with us for research and to help educate and train our students in X-ray astronomy.
Universidad Diego Portales is doing ground-breaking research in many areas of astronomy and has established a new PhD program. KIAA and UDP will benefit from the students, postdocs, and facilities available at both institutions. Joint research between KIAA and UDP is supported with China-Chile grants in AGN (PIs Luis Ho and Claudio Ricci) and in protoplanetary disks (PIs Gregory Herczeg and Lucas Cieza).
