Passive Evolution of Nearby Disks--Impact of Dynamical Processes and AGNs

Abstract:

Based on the MaNGA IFU survey, we have studied the dynamical effects, which is strongly suspected to be led by bars, on the star formation distribution across disks during the quenching of a typical late-type galaxy. Low-luminosity AGN also affects star formation during the passive evolution, not only from that fainter galaxies tend to have a higher fraction of AGN, but also from an empirical spectral decomposition where the optical lines from galaxy center appear increasingly dominated by non-stellar like or star-formation like emissions. Also based on the SAMI IFU survey, we have not only confirmed that the connection between kinematical and morphological types of galaxies is too loose to constrain the origin of early-type galaxies into one single dissipationless-merger scenario, but also found that most of the early-type components in late-type galaxies could be fast-rotating systems. Two papers on the above studies are published in ApJ and MNRAS, respectively.
